Bintulu~ so called oil town

Salam & good day,

its been a while, and another version of english posting (kind a dejavoo i guess). Yesterday Chow called me, telling stories of his and plan of writing about his engagement; sound like mine- last time i planned to write, inspire our bachelor friends, how the marriage process, but eventually i buzy here and there, boring and doing something else...end up warm-warm chicken shit and coughing in the middle of staircase....or literally boombastic word- haphazardly done. well, maybe next time (aaah, another plan i see). now, i'd like to tell about Bintulu, Sarawak.

Long story short, click and read here http://wikitravel.org/en/Bintulu, bye. Hahaha...

Okay, i'm sharing whats not there. Prologue: its a job visit to Sarawak, a place called Lavang in Bintulu province (but farrrrr away from the Bintulu city), but we lodging at company's guest house in a place called in Miri province. from 29th Sep. to 8th Oct. 2009, our field job complete. next stop, in Similajau area. But this time we request to stay with civilization- Bintulu. so be it, wish granted, there we go. Hoover Hotel booked, but... but... while in Similajau, no phone network, the hotel assume we cancelled the book. So, walk in, we end up staying at Bakun Inn. story begin...well, more of travel info.

i don't know the flight fare from KL, but u may check it at mas.com.my and airasia site, and may not necessary due to, its not the best place to enjoy your day...yes, i mean DAY. Hotel/inn here quite unique, the rate charged using head count, 1 room with 2 single bed, the rate differ if u alone and duo. guess why.... i don't know. nightlife? hehehe.

So, what do we have here in Bintulu? as you read in that link (if u ever read it), it explain much. But note that, just yesterday i heard, try walk around the Pasar Tamu and u'll find rare item sold there, labi2, cicak ketua kelas, payau (rusa?), not to forget babi. Pasar Tamu and Pasar Basah here, tourist usually purchase cheap/unique items, i.e. terubuk masin (rm 4- rm 9 each), and kek lapis Sarawak. And there's no life in night here in Bintulu, there's simply no life, it just TIDO... or literally meniduri. hahaha.

Scarce of halal food, for muslim, don't simply beliave the word 'HALAL' in any restorant, typical indicator would be, other customer. is there any bertudung (veiled) of berkopiah (skull cap?) people, then assume okay, other than clearly stated Muslim's meal, ...use your wits. Appearance can be deceiving. young cute Indonesian chick with veil can be working and serving non halal. And tattooed fellows can be working with muslim. ok, i'd recommend:
- Puteri Corner, behind Centre Point. roti canai best
- Famous Mama, opposite Am Bank/ SPRM, got burger, sate oso got.
- Sugarbun, fast food restaurant. standard.
- Riverfront (tak igt), facing river (obviously), a bit far, hotel feel, but affordable. liquor sold there, but said to serve halal food.

Hotel:
- Royal Hotel, full wifi. rate below rm100. bad, staircase, no lift/escalator.
- Hoover, entah

Okay, real action. 1 day, we ate at Riverfront, and then proceed, walking near the river, toward the Pasar Tamu, to return to our Royal Hotel. the time, around 9 p.m. Bintulu, being the sun visit here earlier than Peninsular, the time, about 40 minutes earlier than KL, i.e. 7.30pm isyak oredi maaa. So, my observation, 'chicks' started their business. Wow...1st time i see it. i'm not kind of person, loitering the city in the night, not even in KL, Subang, etc. SO, i never found something like this before. So, we walk, the route we take, force to go near them. 1 of them, red shirt (is it shirt? barely. hahaha) approching us, persuade to subscribe her. Saying to me "songbong yg baju merah ni, sama merah.... ", evading, i said "ada istri saya sana....". p/s: people say, that way of talking, the 'takot bini' thing, thats not it. the right term 'bini yang tak takot aku!'.

So, being my friend ask, they charge only rm50, no details on the term & condition. So, there you go. Be strong in your faith, no glove, no love. Go Bintulu, do your work, stay quiet in hotel, avoid going out in night, sleep tight, nice dream.

Till then, ...owh, here i am in Miri now. they say Miri more lively (nightlife i guess), but for me (especially me)... owh my.... what special here? u tell me.
